Launching a store is easier when you work from a list. These checks catch the problems that customers notice first.
Orders and payments
- Place a test order from start to finish.
- Confirm your payment provider is active and your payout details are correct.
- Check the emails customers receive, including the order confirmation.
Shipping and taxes
- Set shipping rates for every region you serve.
- Review your tax settings with your accountant if you are unsure.
Policies and trust
Publish your returns, shipping and privacy policies. These are also required by many payment providers and they reassure customers. Add a clear way to contact you.
Design and mobile
- Open the store on a phone and walk through the buying journey.
- Check that images are sized sensibly so pages load quickly.
- Review each template in the theme editor. Online Store 2.0 themes such as Meridian let you adjust every page without code.
Search settings
Write a unique page title and meta description for your homepage and key products, and connect your domain. After launch, submit your sitemap to Google Search Console.
When should you open the store?
Remove the password page only after the checks above pass. See our product page checklist for a deeper review of your listings.
